Interest from Irish citizens in relocating to Portugal has seen a sharp rise, according to the organisers of a series of international events helping expats invest in and move to the country.

According to the Moving to Portugal Show and Seminars organisers, registrations for this year’s Dublin event are up 33% compared to 2024, indicating a clear upward trend in Irish demand for Portuguese property and lifestyle opportunities.

Christina Hippisley, General Manager of the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce, attributes the surge in interest to Portugal’s broad appeal – from well-connected cities to rural beauty and beachside living –, combined with attractive tax incentives.

“A growing number of Irish citizens are looking at Portugal as a destination to live, work and invest, as well as to get more from their lifestyle. We are delighted to be serving that demand by providing information on all aspects of making the move at the forthcoming Moving to Portugal Show in Dublin,” she said.

The Moving to Portugal Show and Seminars, was held at the Herbert Park Hotel in Dublin on May 22, 2025, and featured tax, legal and real estate experts, as well as an “Irish success stories” panel, where those who have already made the move will share practical tips and personal experiences.
