The excellent conditions for surfing in the Algarve continue to gain worldwide recognition with Lagos being placed among the top 20 destinations in the world for surfing.

According to the prestigious National Geographic magazine, the Lagos region of the Algarve is one of the best places to go in the world to enjoy surfing and joins a list of more well known destinations around the globe including Hossegur in France, Tel Aviv in Israel, Bali in Indonesia, Maresias in Brazil, Waikiki in Hawaii, Margaret River in Australia and St Barthelemy in the Caribbean.

According to National Geographic, Lagos is “blessed with waves from the west and the south” with Lagos proving to be particularly enjoyable for surfers who are keen to seek out the best waves throughout the summer months.

The publication also highlights the diversity in the type of surfers who choose to come to the region stating that all types of surfers go to Lagos, including those looking to enjoy the social side of surfing among other likeminded travelers who visit bars and restaurants while also making the most of the local area and culture.  Other surfers choosing Lagos are those who are purely there for the waves and to take full advantage of the warm weather combined with the exceptional sea conditions.
